Just a quick update to put up some pics of stuff I’ve been working on recently. Well, sort of recently. I did the artillery and cavalry a good few months back now, but only got around to gluing them to their bases this weekend. All of these are glued onto bases but otherwise unbased; as usual, I’m waiting until I have them all painted up and glued to bases before I do that, so that they’ll all be uniformly based. So, here to start are some Union cavalry for Longstreet. The figures are a mix of Cracker Line, Plank Road (the old Starfort line) and Pendraken. They fit fairly well – the Plank Road horses are distinctly smaller than the Pendraken ones, and the Cracker Line ones are roughly in the middle between the other two lines, but I mixed them up anyway.
And here are the artillery – 4 different kinds so far, though I think I have another 3 or so to do. Not sure what they are off hand, they’re tucked away with my limbers, which I still have to do. All the artillery are from the truly great Cracker Line range, which I really can’t recommend highly enough.
And finally, some Romans from Forged in Battle. This is the first of my mainline units, the Hastati / Principes, with a very nice horn-blowing bloke with a sword – one of my favourite figures from all my FiB stuff. The Velites I’ve put up here before, though I don’t think they were based when I did. As usual, I’m going to finish off painting everything in the army and then do proper basing on them.
Next up on the painting block are more Hastati / Principes (2/3 done), more 6mm Napoleonic French infantry and artillery (about 2/3 done too) for Bluecher (of which I had another delightful game against Ernie the other day, and in which I got served, as the kids say), and I’ll start work on my Cavalry for Bluecher next – only them and command stands and other markers to do now for that force, which means I’ll actually be able to BASE THEM UP properly. I know, it’s going to be weird having them completely done. After that, I think more Romans and a start on the Carthaginians is in order.
