Bluecher early start part 2: More French Infantry.

Been doing some more work on my Napoleonic French for the last couple of weekends, and managed to get another four brigades done. The next four are glued to painting sticks and undercoating is tomorrow, so I can start painting them next weekend. After that I have 2 more infantry brigades, which I’ll probably do with the 2 artillery batteries I’m doing, and 6 cavalry brigades, as well as command stands (which I probably won’t need so much for Bluecher, but which I like the look of, so will do anyway, one for each corps). Not sure yet whether I’ll do all the cavalry together, or whether I’ll do light cavalry and commanders in one session, and heavy cavalry in a second session. We’ll see. Anyway, here’s the 4 new brigades:

As before, they haven’t had their basing treatments done yet – I’m waiting till I get them all painted and glued to bases before I do that, to ensure they look the same after I get them done.

Here they are a bit closer (and a bit fuzzier):

First Corps, 3rd Division, 1st Brigade

First Corps, 3rd Division, 1st Brigade

This brigade comprises the 21st Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, and the 46th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, in the usual French chequered formation, with skirmishers to the fore.

1st Corps, 3rd Division, 2nd Brigade

1st Corps, 3rd Division, 2nd Brigade

The second brigade is made up of the 25th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, and the 45th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, and with an attached artillery battery for good measure.

1st Corps, 4th Division, 1st Brigade

1st Corps, 4th Division, 1st Brigade

The next brigade is made up of the 8th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, and the 29th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, along with their brigade commander (Pegot) looking on at the back there.  I did these in a slightly different formation, in march column, and by clipping a figure off each base, made 4 ranks of 3 men rather than the usual 3 ranks of 4 men. They’re obviously latecomers to the party, and still getting into position before they change formation to the assault column that the others are in.

The final brigade consists of the 85th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2, and the 95th Ligne, battalions 1 and 2.

And finally, just for Markus, since I know he misses us so much, and since I’m sure he’s still surprised I’m doing French this time, here’s a pic of the four brigades being attacked by a giant hamster.
